Serving for Stars Academy Dance Shows

On Saturday I was back once again caffeinating the audience members of this much loved North East Dance School. This is my sixth event in one form or another for the organisation.

Serving at an event like this brings a totally different dynamic to the day. The setup time is later than a lot of events that I do but the finish time is generally the same. Spread across a six hour service there were four intense serving windows of between 20 - 40 minutes. Out of nowhere there is suddenly a queue 20 people or so long and they all need serving, fast! The problem I find with this is just as you get into a rhythm everyone has been served and I'm back to chatting to my, much needed and hugely appreciated assistant or reading my book.

Having an assistant for events like this I feel brings an added visual assurance to the waiting customer that they will be served in time and also means that certain orders not requiring the espresso machine can be fulfilled by them reducing waiting time.

I'm now into my third year of providing refreshment for these shows so it's nice to serve familiar faces and chat to new, appreciative customers plus pick up a few more bookings from people looking for a similar service elsewhere.

I'll be back for more of the same later next month!
