School Sports Days

The requests for the Bass Notes Coffee van to attend School Sports Days started earlier than ever this year, with the first one taking place just before the May half term.
I really enjoy serving at events like this as the welcome from staff, parents and guardians is so appreciative, especially if it's a school I've not been to before. For me to attend a school costs nothing and really does require minimal logistical planning. They just decide where they want me to be positioned and the timings of the day and that's it. I'll then send as many documents as are required, public liability insurance, risk assessments, food hygiene rating or in some cases, nothing at all!
Sports Days, like many of the events I attend where I am the only trader are busy. Fortunately I love being busy, I thrive on it and having the efficiency of my workflow tested pushes me to evaluate how my processes can be tweaked in order to keep the queue moving but also retaining the quality of my product, not always easy but something I strive for.
The current season of School Sports Days has enabled me to donate over £300 back to the schools I've visited. This money has gone into a variety of pots such as PTA bank accounts, student initiative well-being funds, academy accounts and even general maintenance petty cash. This is probably one of the easiest ways for a school to raise extra funds with the minimal amount of effort.
I hope to donate even more money next year so if you've read this far and know of a school that appreciates good coffee and could use an injection of funds then please let them know I exist and if I'm free, I'll come along.
