Bass Notes Coffee

The first engagement on the van after returning from my summer holiday in August was to be a Post-Wedding Brunch up the coast, in between Warkworth and Alnmouth. Enquiries and initial planning for this began back in May so it was something that I had been looking forward to serving at for a while. The venue was the bride's (Georgina's) parents newly renovated house with incredible views of both the coast and countryside from their back garden.

Perfect weather for a Post-Wedding Brunch caffein hit!

Provision for the van was outstanding with a nice level and spacious driveway in close proximity to an outside plug for power. Now this isn't necessary as I can run completely off-grid but it's nice to have whenever possible.

We were to be joined by The Real Taste of Northumberland in their trailer serving up delicious sausage or bacon baps, or if you were cheeky like me, then a sausage and bacon bap! Service was from 10am - 1pm for approximately 100 guests which was to be a pre-paid open bar service.

The menu provided to guests

Providing guests with an open bar service has many advantages and benefits and in all honesty doesn't cost that much more than a price per cup service and guests can, as many did at this event, fully explore my menu, able to enjoy a few different drinks and perhaps trying something new. From my perspective it allows me to serve at a faster pace as I'm not having to keep track of who has had what or deal with operating the till plus it allows me time to answer any questions guests may have about the drinks on offer.

Now as anyone in mobile catering will tell you, should you ask, things go wrong, equipment malfunctions and sometimes break. This is something that I dread happening and lose sleep over but thankfully happens rarely. Just because the equipment works perfectly the day before when final checks are made is no guarantee that it will the next. About two hours into service it was my time as an issue with the water pump presented itself . Fortunately I was able to rectify the problem and resume service without too much of an interruption extending the agreed service time to ensure that everyone left fully caffeinated. Finishing a little later allowed for the luxury of chatting to the parents and the happy couple while admiring their incredible view.

The following day I received the most incredible review which is available to read on both my Instagram grid and Google review page. I love this job!
