All things tea and NEMI teas
When I was setting up the business back in 2022 I was tasked with finding suppliers that offered the best quality the business could afford, in stepped Pranav, social entrepreneur and founder of NEMI teas and the Trampoline cafés. NEMI had been recommended to me as a potential supplier of my chai offering. NEMI's chai instantly appealed as it's a syrup rather than a powder which I'm not keen on due to the sometimes grainy texture in the cup.
I set about contacting various local tea suppliers in an attempt to keep everything I stock on the van sourced exclusively from the North East. Unfortunately, none of the companies that I had contacted ever replied to me. I looked again at Pranav's company https://www.nemiteas.com/ already set on using his chai anyway I dug a little deeper into what else was on offer. As it turns out, some incredible, organic, single origin teas.
The suppliers of my coffees, chocolates and milks all have wonderful stories behind their businesses and NEMI teas is no different. They provide hospitality training and employment to refugees at their TRAMPOLINE Cafes, giving them work experience and job readiness skills to enter the UK workforce and integrate into broader society.
Dig even deeper and you'll find a company that sources all of its teas from farms that are committed to environmental and social sustainability. The farms themselves adhere to rigorous standards that protect ecosystems, reduce pesticide use, ensure safe working conditions and pay fair wages for workers, and support thriving local communities. As the teas are certified organic they ensure that the tea they supply has been made in a way that is better for people, animals and wildlife, and respects the natural environment.
Being a coffee-led business I don't sell a huge amount of tea but when I do I feel proud serving Pranav's teas and spicy chai. Knowing that the quality of the tea is exceptional and the story that surrounds the company is both an engaging and meaningful one is something that comes to mind whenever any of my customers orders "just a tea, please" rest assured, it's definitely not just a tea!
