Wedding Coffee Service

OK, so not strictly a wedding coffee service, this was the day after the wedding, coffee service. Lots of the happy couple's guests had stayed over, in bell tents in some quite torrential rain. At the time of booking the rain hadn't been part of the agenda.
It was an early start as I had to head south down the A19 50 miles to a lovely little village just outside Yarm to begin service at 9am. Luckily the weather from the day before hadn't left any debris on the roads to impede the journey. Arriving at 7.50am I was greeted by the groom who had a look of relief on his face as, I had arrived early and in a four wheel drive vehicle as my pitch for the day was in the middle of a large field in between two marquees.

Serving the day after a wedding has a completely different feel to me. I still get to play a part in something special but everyone is more relaxed, some even a little hungover! I'm seen as lifesaver, savior and re-energiser all rolled into one. I get to hear the tails of the previous day's events and soak up a little of the remaining party atmosphere.
I had been booked, for something like this, quite last minute with the idea being that I do a breakfast service followed by a lunch service. What transpired was a nice flow of guests throughout my time here.

Included with the booking had been a request for 60 treats for guests to help themselves to. Now, sourcing this number of bespoke sweet treats can prove a problem on relatively short notice so I had to revisit my list of suppliers to try and make this work. Fortunately Eddie at The Curious Brownie Company in York was able to find time in his busy baking schedule to supply me with these beauties which were delivered to me within 48 hours of ordering. Now that's great service and they went down a treat too, especially the mint aero brownies!
I stayed until just after 3pm before cleaning up and packing down. Arriving home not long after 5pm it was another long day but then they all generally are. I reflected on the huge appreciation and gratitude shown by everyone. Another unique and hugely rewarding day in the coffee trading world.
